Carl Craig Obituary

SULLIVAN -- Carl Craig, 89, lifelong resident of Sullivan, passed away 10:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 10, 2006 at the Illinois Masonic Home, Sullivan. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 15, 2006 at McMullin-Young Funeral Home, Sullivan. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, at McMullin-Young Funeral Home, Sullivan. Burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery, Sullivan. Memorials: Donor's Choice. Carl was born January 9, 1917 in Mode, the son of Arlie and Maude (Houser) Craig, Sr. He married Beulah Wallace in 1940. They had three children. In 1961, he married Dorothy Matheson Emel. They had one child. Carl was a member of the Eagles in Mattoon. Carl is survived by his wife, Dorothy; children, Helen Carden and husband, Al of Sullivan, MO; Betty Sallee and husband, Howard of Hull, IL; and J.R. Craig and wife, Cathrine, of Sullivan, IL. Grandchildren, Steve Fields of St. Charles, MO; Mitch Ray (Chris) of St. Louis, MO; Darren Ray (Al Marie) of Murdoch, IL; Sean and Jordan Craig of Sullivan, IL. Four great-grandchildren. Step-children, Kent Emel (Sharon) of Sullivan; Roger Emel (Ann) of Bethany; Ron Emel (Linda) of Alamogordo, NM; Dick Emel (Barb) of Bethany; Anne Loy Tegarden (Charlie) of Kingman, AZ; Bob Emel (Cindy) of Gays. Eight step-grandchildren and ten step-great-grandchildren. Brothers, Junior Craig (Elaine) of Sullivan and Short Craig (Leona) of Sullivan; sister, Betty Gene Coombs (Calvin) of Arthur; sister-in-law, Phyliss Fritts (Bud) of Windsor. Several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, a son, David, two brothers and three sisters.
