Jennifer Marcum Obituary

NEW CASTLE -- Jennifer L. Marcum, age 41, of New Castle, passed away Friday, April 10, 2009 at Ball Memorial Hospital following a sudden illness. She was born November 20, 1967 in New Castle, a daughter of Harley G. and Vonda G. (Asberry) Morgan. A 1986 graduate of New Castle Chrysler High School, she also received an associate's degree in nursing and an associate's degree in Office Management, both from Ivy Tech. She was presently employed as a teacher's aide at Parker Elementary School in New Castle. A loving mother and selfless person, she was very involved in the lives and activities of her three sons. Naturally a caregiver, she always gave of herself, taking care of her grandparents, her husband's grandparents, and her dad during illness, and anyone who needed care. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 17 years, Steven H. Marcum of New Castle; three sons, Nate Marcum and twins, Bradley and Jacob Marcum, all at home; her mother, Vonda G. Morgan of New Castle; a sister, Stephanie (husband, Don) Davis of Mattoon, IL; a brother, Bryan (wife, Kathy) Morgan of Kokomo; nieces and nephews, Morgan, Phillip, and Caroline Davis, all of Mattoon, IL, and Steven Morgan of New Castle; her father in law, Randy Marcum of New Castle; her mother in law, Jackie Smith of Indianapolis; a brother in law, Brian (wife, Melissa) Marcum of Avon; several aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Harley G. Morgan in 2000; her maternal grandparents, James and Mattie Asberry and her paternal grandparents, Roland and Laura Morgan. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service with Bro. Bobby Slagle officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 5-9 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to the Educational Fund for Nate, Bradley, and Jacob Marcum c/o Citizen's State Bank with envelopes available at the funeral home.
