Kathryn Richardson Obituary

CHARLESTON - Kathryn Lucinda "Kat" Richardson, 96, of Charleston, Illinois, formerly of Casey, Illinois, passed away at 12:50 a.m. on Friday, June 18, 2010 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center. She was born November 3, 1913 in Hutton Twp., Coles County, Illinois, the daughter of Edward Richardson and Belva Cox Richardson. Survivors include her sister in law, Denzel Richardson of Casey, IL; nieces and nephews, Jean Hammer of Florida; Marty Henderson of Frankfort, IN Wanda Damour of Africa; Ed Richardson of Casey, IL; John Alan Richardson of Ashmore, IL; Jim Richardson of West Terre Haute, IN; Bill Richardson of Charleston, IL; Richard Richardson of Rantoul, IL and many special friends. She was preceded by her parents, brother, John Richardson; sisters, Mary Henderson, Mildred Blevins and niece, Nancy Henderson. Kat as she was fondly referred to by her family was born and raised on a farm. She retired from farming at the age of sixty-two. She enjoyed driving and riding around the countryside for hours looking at the fields and crops. She also enjoyed tending her garden and was very particular with her lawn and flowers. She knew everyone. Kat enjoyed traveling after retirement. She traveled many places with her family and friends. She loved the Illinois State Fair and all the small town festivals each summer. She was a treasured honorary member of the Bates-Burke family. She was especially close to Amy and Beth. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at the Markwell Funeral Home, Casey, IL with Rev. Kenneth Hoover officiating. Burial will follow in the Casey Cumberland Cemetery, Casey, IL. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial donations and contributions may be made to Hilltop Convalescent Center, 910 W. Polk Ave., Charleston, IL 61920. Memorial tributes and condolences may be sent to the family at www.markwellfuneralhome.com. Markwell Funeral Home of Casey, IL is in charge of the arrangements.
