Marian L. Mattox

MATTOON - Marian L. Mattox, 78, of Mattoon, Illinois, passed away at 2:20 a.m. on Sunday, September 6, 2009, at the Douglas Rehabilitation and Care Center. Visitation for family and friends will be held from Noon until 1:45 p.m. on Wednesday, September 9, at the Schilling Funeral Home, 1301 Charleston Avenue in Mattoon. Graveside services honoring her life will follow at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday in the Dodge Grove Cemetery, 917 North 22nd Street in Mattoon. Marian was born March 27, 1931 in Sailor Springs, Illinois, a daughter of William Thomas and Bertha (Welch) Maglone. She married Joe C. Mattox on September 11, 1947. He passed away April 13, 1995. She was also preceded in death by nine siblings. Survivors include her three children, Dick Mattox and wife Cathy of Griffin, Georgia, Greg Mattox and wife Deanna of Acworth, Georgia, and Heidi Smith and husband Mark of Tower Hill, Illinois; one sister, Juanita Chitwood of Leesburg, Florida; twelve grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Mrs. Mattox was formerly employed at the General Electric Lamp Plant for over 35 years. She was a former member of the First Apostolic Church.
