WESTFIELD, IL - Michael James Colman, 51, of Westfield, Ill., passed away on November 15, 2024, at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon, Ill. He was born on October 17, 1973, to Diane Rail and stepfather, Joseph Hock in Globe, Ariz. He married Jessica Marie Bookland on September 9, 2019, in Charleston, Ill.; she survives in Westfield, Ill.

Michael is also survived by his seven children: Stefanie Goode of San Antonio, Texas, Joseph Colman of San Antonio, Texas, Madison Colman (Greg Jeffries) of Charleston, Ill., Aidyn Colman of Westfield, Ill., Charles Bookland of Elizabeth City, N.C., Olivia Bookland of Westfield, Ill., and Isabella Grigg of Mattoon, Ill.; one grandchild, Jonah Michael Colman; five siblings, Samantha (Brad) Lawyer of Westfield, Ill., David (Bethanie) Colman of Westfield, Ill., Joseph Hock of Corpus Christi, Texas, Stephen (Rita) Colman of San Antonio, Texas, and John (Cynthia) Colman of San Antonio, Texas; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Diane Rail and Joseph Hock.

Michael grew up in San Antonio, Texas, where he lived from 1978 to 1997. He later moved to Charleston, Ill., where he attended Lake Land College earning an Associate's Degree. He continued his education at Eastern Illinois University and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Administrative Science.

A passionate musician, Michael was the lead vocalist, guitarist, and bass player in a band. He used his musical talents to support his community by hosting benefit events for those in need. Above all, Michael's greatest joy came from his family. He was a constant presence at his son, Aidyn's, football games and never missed a family gathering. Sundays were reserved for quality time with his loved ones, often spent around the BBQ grill.

Michael was a dedicated sports fan, following the New York Giants and the Chicago Cubs. He also enjoyed working on cars with his brother and contributing to his YouTube channel.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Adams Funeral Chapel in Charleston, Ill. A memorial service will follow at 3 p.m. at Adams Funeral Chapel with Brandon Wright officiating.
