Norma Jean "Jeanie" Rich

Norma Jean "Jeanie" Rich, age 90 of Mattoon, Ill. passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center.
A funeral Mass in her honor will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, July 3, 2025, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 320 N. 21st Street, Mattoon, IL. A committal service will immediately follow at St. Michael Cemetery in Sigel, Ill. A prayer service will be held at 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 2, 2025, and the visitation will immediately follow from 4 to 6 p.m. at Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, 1200 Wabash Avenue, Mattoon, IL 61938.
Jeanie was born on April 10, 1935, to the late Victor John and Norma Rose (Swingler) Walk in rural Cumberland County. She is survived by her son, Bryan Rich and wife, Jonell of Mattoon, Ill.; one brother, Dennis Walk and wife, Ruth of Teutopolis, Ill.; two sisters, Maxine Rawlings of Neoga, Ill., Sheila Walk-Kamholz and husband, Doug of Springfield, Ill.; one granddaughter, Taylor Rich and fiancé, Connor Klingele of Sullivan, Ill. She was preceded in death by one brother, David Walk.
Jeanie was born and raised on her multi-generational family farm two miles south of Neoga and graduated Neoga High School in 1953. After high school she moved to Mattoon and worked for ICTC for a short time. She retired from CIPS Ameren in 1995 after twenty-six years of service. In her retirement she enjoyed trips to Mexico with her sister, hauling her granddaughter to sporting events, reading and jigsaw puzzles. She was happiest when surrounded by loved ones, visiting and laughing on her sun porch.
Jeanie was a faithful member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Mattoon, Ill. She volunteered for the St. Vincent de Paul society and Catholic Charities. Please visit
