Robert Warman Obituary

CHARLESTON - Robert Hugh Warman, age 74 of Hutton Township, rural Charleston, Illinois, went to be with his Lord and Saviour on Wednesday (July 30, 2008) at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, Illinois. Services honoring and celebrating his life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 2, 2008 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 902 Cleveland Avenue in Charleston, with Pastor Ken Hoover and Pastor Larry Brakenhoff officiating. Interment with Military Rites conducted by the Honor Guard of the Charleston VFW Paul McVey Post 1592 will follow in Liberty Cemetery in Hutton Township. Visitation will be held at Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Drive in Charleston this evening (Friday) from 5:00 – 8:00. Bob was born in Charleston on May 14, 1934 a son of Charles Harrison "Dick" and Nellie Mae (Irby) Warman. He was united in marriage to Ramona L. Brakenhoff on September 30, 1956 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Charleston. Surviving family members include Ramona, his loving and devoted wife and best friend of nearly fifty-two years; seven children, Tammy Etnire and her husband Doug of Hutton Township, Randy Warman and his wife Angel of Charleston; Nelda Campbell and her husband Rick of Hutton Township, Charla Alvey and her husband Jim of Ava, Illinois, Glenda Donaldson and her husband Mark of Cooks Mills, Illinois, John Warman and his wife Loni of Avon, Indiana and James "Jim Bob" Warman and his wife Kristy of Hindsboro, Illinois; twenty grandchildren; a brother, Everett Warman of Westfield, Illinois; a sister-in-law, Mary Miller of the Champaign-Urbana area; Ramona's brothers and sisters and their families; numerous nieces and nephews; and his Immanuel Church family. In addition to his parents Bob was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Warman and Harold Miller and two sisters, Katherine Williams and Mary Hudson. Bob was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Charleston where he served as an usher and attended a small group bible study through which devoted and lasting friendships were developed and enjoyed. He was a United States Army Veteran serving as a medic while stationed in Germany. His first employment was with Brown Shoe Company in Charleston. He later took a job delivering petroleum for Charleston Farm Services – a job he truly enjoyed as he established several long-lasting friendships with area farmers. In addition he was an eight year employee of Trailmobile in Charleston. Bob was an outdoorsman – he enjoyed hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting and always took time to acknowledge the beauty of God's creation. He appreciated the songbirds and could sit for hours and watch the deer and other wildlife on his and Ramona's Hutton Township farm where he also enjoyed farming and raising hogs and cattle – it was home and a place he truly loved. Bob also enjoyed watching the harness races at the local fairs, watching the Casey Truckers fast pitch men's softball team, and watching Chicago Bears football with his family. He was extremely musical and while in school received several awards at the state level in voice and percussion performance. In later years he and Ramona enjoyed traveling with a trip to Germany as one of their more memorable. For many years Bob proudly took care of the grounds at Immanuel Lutheran Church – a job now tended to by his grandson Josh. He also assisted Ramona with her custodial duties at the church and at the Immanuel Lutheran Preschool where he was affectionately known as Mr. Bob to all (except for Delaney who called him Mr. Chief). Bob's sense of humor was enjoyed by many as he was always sharing it. He loved to tease and would often greet you with a silly pet name just to make you smile. He never knew a stranger and his humble and generous nature endeared him to many. Bob was extremely proud of his children often referring to them as his "Magnificent Seven". At all times he provided the very best he could for them and his greatest desire was for them to be truly happy. He dearly loved his grandchildren and enjoyed watching their participation in various activities. Bob was a kindhearted and gentle man who touched the lives of many and whose memory will forever be a treasure in the hearts of those who loved him. Bob's family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial gifts in his honor be made to the Immanuel Lutheran Church or to Lutheran World Relief. Gifts may be left on the Memorial Table at the Visitation or Services or mailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Drive, Charleston, IL 61920.

Hebrews 12:1-2 "...let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross,..." The joy that was before Jesus was our great reunion with Him in Heaven. That's the next reunion Bob will be at, the best ever; Jesus has prepared fully furnished rooms for all who want to be there. John 14:1-6
