JOHNSON CITY - Shirley Ann (Starnes) Lewis, age 77, of Johnson City, passed away on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at Hillview Health and Rehabilitation Center. Shirley is the daughter of the late Jo Ann (Adkins) Starnes. She was a member of University Parkway Baptist Church and taught elementary school aged children for more than 30 years. Shirley enjoyed sewing, quilting, boating on Watauga Lake, and spending time on the farm. She cherished all the adventures she had with her loving husband, Kenneth, and their family. In addition to her parents, Shirley is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Lee Lewis, her father-in-law, Cisro Lewis, and her brother, Rusty Starnes.

Shirley Ann (Starnes) Lewis has left behind to cherish her memory: son, Timothy Wayne Lewis, granddaughter, Haley Derry (Nathan); nieces: Cindy Masters, Staci Webb (Phillip), Leigh Haun (Randy), Katie Edwards (Rusty); nephews: Isaac Lewis and Chad Bennett (Cheryl); great-grandchildren: Clayton Derry, Justin Derry, Easton Derry; great-niece, Megan Haun; great-nephew, Jake Haun; sister, Judy Starnes; mother-in-law, Ella Verline (Miller) Lewis; sister-in-law, Kathy Richardson (Steve); brother-in-law, Wayne Lewis (Gwen); and several other beloved family members and friends.

The family would like to offer special thanks to the doctors, nurses and caregivers at Hillview Health and Rehabilitation Center for their kindness and care during this difficult time.

The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence as we offer tribute and remember the life of Shirley Ann (Starnes) Lewis in a memorial service to be held at 6:00 pm on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, in the chapel at Valley Funeral Home. Reverend Scott Thompson will officiate. Musical selections will be provided by Larry Pate. A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family will begin at 5:00 pm on Tuesday and will continue until the hour of service.
