Arlene May Obituary

Arlene May, 101, passed away peacefully at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House early Wednesday morning, September 3, 2025, due to complications of a Cerebrovascular Accident. Mrs. May was a long-time member of the Calvary Baptist Church of Jonesboro. She was born on December 20, 1923, to Arlie and Louie Chism. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Claudy M. May; three sisters, Joyce Dunavant, Duffa Bolin and Faye Redd; two brothers, Virl (Bud) Chism and Rex Chism. Survivors include her son, Lanny A. May and his wife Pat of Manila; daughter, Tanya Clark and husband David of Jonesboro; five granddaughters, Jennifer Edwards and husband Steve; Ashley May Balch, Cynthia Woodward, Dana Weatherly, Paula Gann and husband Steven; twelve great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; and many beloved nieces, nephews, friends and church members. Mrs. May was much loved and shared the light of her Lord Jesus Christ with many. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her, but they will rejoice in knowing she is in the arms of Jesus. A Celebration of Life service will 2:00 PM, Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Jerry Medlock officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers. The visitation will be from 1:00 until service time.
