Christopher Coleman Obituary
Christopher (Chris) Anselm Coleman passed away Monday, October 27,2025, to join his mother and daddy in heaven. Born November 2, 1963, and raised in Jonesboro, Arkansas, he was a loyal supporter of the Nettleton Raiders and the Arkansas State University Indians/Red Wolves.
As a person born with developmental disabilities, Chris never let that limit his participation in things he loved. Whether he was pretending to be Evil Knievel while jumping hills on his bike or seeing how fast he could take a corner without wiping out, riding his bike always put a smile on his face. He may have broken a few bones along the way, but that never deterred him from giving it another shot. Chris carried that love of bike riding with him as he participated in the Special Olympics for many years, even reaching the World Special Olympics in cycling in 1995.
Anyone who had the privilege of meeting him would hold onto the memory of Chris' tight hugs and his huge smile. His siblings will always remember those big wet kisses on the cheek, his heartfelt "I Love You's" and those occasional noogies, accompanied by much laughter from Chris. He never met a stranger and all it took was for someone to give him a smile and speak to him kindly, and in his heart, he had just made a new friend. From that point on he would remember them often, checking to see if his mother and daddy knew how that person was doing and occasionally asking if they might still remember him too.
Chris had a love for the outdoors. He enjoyed camping and fishing and was always ready to go to a football game. When he had to be indoors, he enjoyed watching game shows and his favorite football teams, listening to music, playing with his matchbox cars and looking at his many books about airplanes or fire trucks.
Chris was preceded in death by his parents, Alvie and Dorothy Coleman, his sister Charlotte Casey and his nephew Cody Morgan. He is survived by his brothers Mike (Sheila) Coleman of Danville, AR, Robert (Nancy) Coleman of Jonesboro, AR and sisters Sharon (Paul) House of Jonesboro and Yvonne (Cory) Yaunk of League City, TX along with one very special sister and brother in law, Patty and Mike Causey of Jonesboro, who have been his guardians and caretakers for many years. Chris was like a son to them, and their grief at his loss is most profound. Chris also leaves behind many grieving nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will take place on Sunday November 2, 2025, from 3:30-4:30 pm, at Gregg-Langford-Bookout Funeral Home, with a Rosary immediately following. Funeral services will be held Monday November 3, 2025 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, starting at 10 am with Msgr. R. Scott Friend officiating, with a private burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
