David Sandborn Obituary

David "Dave" Lynn Sandborn, 77, of Jonesboro, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2025. He was born January 14, 1948, in Grand Ledge, Michigan, the first child of Louis and Mary (Wohlscheid) Sandborn. After graduating from Grand Ledge High School, Dave proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. His time in service instilled in him the discipline, dedication, and sense of duty that shaped the way he lived his life. In 1975, Dave moved to Jonesboro, Arkansas, where he married the love of his life, Lesley "Jo" (Pelon) Sandborn. That same year, the couple founded Dave's Sales and Service, which they faithfully owned and operated together for over 50 years as an FMC and John Bean dealer. Through his work, Dave became not only a trusted businessman, but also a loyal friend to countless customers and neighbors. His work ethic, generosity, and dedication to serving others left a lasting mark on the community he loved. Dave was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and uncle. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Jo; his daughters, Lynn Sweet of Jonesboro, Arkansas, and Tiffany Sandborn of Salt Lake City, Utah; his brothers, Tim Sandborn and Rick Sandborn of Jonesboro, Arkansas, and Mike Sandborn of San Jose, California; his sister, Sandee Hartsell of Swifton, Arkansas; his special nephew, Billy Johnson; and his special niece, Tammy Sandborn. He was preceded in death by his son, David Sandborn, his parents, Louis and Mary Sandborn, and his sister, Gwen Sandborn. Faith was an important part of Dave's life. As a member of Strawfloor Baptist Church in Jonesboro, he found strength and fellowship in his church family. Outside of his work and church, Dave had a lifelong love for animals. He rescued and cared for many over the years, showing compassion not only to people but also to God's creatures. Dave will be remembered for his unwavering generosity, his ever-present smile, and his willingness to help others. He lived with kindness, worked with integrity, and loved his family with all his heart. Though his absence leaves a void, his legacy of love, faith, and service will continue to inspire everyone who knew him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his family, friends, church, and community. A Celebration of Dave's Life will be scheduled for a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Dave's memory to Arkansas Children's Hospital or the NEA Humane Society.
