JoAnn Looney Obituary
JoAnn Looney, a dedicated nurse, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2025, in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas, at the age of 75. Born on March 1, 1950, in Beech Grove, Arkansas, JoAnn's nurturing spirit and unwavering faith were evident from her early years.
JoAnn's commitment to caring for others was more than a career; it was a calling. After completing her education as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), she served with compassion and professionalism at Methodist Hospital in Memphis for over three decades. Her tireless dedication to her patients earned her the respect and admiration of both her colleagues and the many lives she touched.
Her love for the Lord was the cornerstone of her life. JoAnn found great joy in old-time Christian music, which uplifted her spirit and reinforced her faith. A devout member of the Nazarene church, she lived her beliefs every day, embodying the love and grace that she found in her faith.
Those who knew JoAnn will remember her as a dedicated caregiver, not only in her professional capacity but also within her family. She was the person her family could always count on, the one who would show up when others needed care, comfort, or just a listening ear. Her selfless nature was a beacon of hope and a source of strength for all who were fortunate enough to be in her presence.
JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ila Mae Osbon and siblings, Charles Osbon, Jerry Don Osbon, Elgie Osbon, Norma Ray Baker, Omalee Thrasher, Betty Weatherford, Wilma Friar, Shirley White, and Joan Carol Ezell.
JoAnn is survived by her son, Michael Russell and her beloved dog, Lilly Jo.
The family will receive friends on Monday, April 21, from 1:00 p.m. until service time at Phillips Funeral Home. The memorial service will begin at 2:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home with Dave White officiating.
