Marcy Kersey Obituary
Marcy Anne Kersey, a beacon of unwavering joy and compassion, completed her earthly journey on May 21, 2025, in Paragould, Arkansas, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and selfless service. Born on June 9, 1946, in Michigan City, Indiana, Marcy's life was characterized by her nurturing spirit and genuine concern for everyone she encountered.
Marcy's role as a faithful caregiver to her late husband, James, showcased the depth of her commitment. Her dedication to James during his time of need was a testament to the vows they shared and an example of true devotion. As the best mother and grandmother, Marcy's love for her family was the cornerstone of her life. She took immense pleasure in caring for her grandchildren, and her concern for her family's well-being was always at the forefront of her mind.
Her passion for helping others extended beyond the confines of her home. Marcy never met a stranger; she approached every person with an open heart and a warm smile. Her ability to connect with others and make them feel valued was one of her most remarkable traits.
As an active member of Grace United Baptist Church, Marcy welcomed parishioners with her radiant personality as a door greeter. Her presence at the entrance was more than just a greeting; it was an embodiment of the church's spirit of acceptance and love. Her love for singing was profound, and her voice graced the church choir and her home with melodies. In the church kitchen, Marcy was always ready to lend a hand, helping prepare meals for any occasion.
Always happy and exuding positivity, Marcy was the type of person about whom no one could speak ill. Her innate goodness and generosity of spirit were evident to all who knew her. Marcy's ability to find joy in every situation uplifted those around her and taught them the value of a cheerful disposition.
Marcy was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Oliver and Virginia Rita LaBerge; husband, James Kersey; brother, Michael LaBerge; and granddaughter, Brianna Kersey.
Survivors include her son, Mark Kersey (Judy); daughter, Anna Clark (Jason Traywick); brother, Gary LaBerge; sister-in-law, Pam LaBerge; grandchildren, Hunter Easley (Ashley), Austin Easley (Jennifer Gaylord), Katelyn Kersey, and Jenna Kersey; and great-grandchildren, Avery Easley and Wyatt Kersey.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 27, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home. The funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 28, at Phillips Funeral Home with Josh Carpenter officiating. Burial will follow at Brown's Chapel Cemetery.
