Opal Pence Obituary

Opal May (Floyd) Tackett Pence, 91, of St. Peters, Missouri, formerly of Walnut Ridge, Arkansas, passed from this life on July 29, 2025, at St. Croix Hospice in St. Peters, Missouri. She was born on March 12, 1934, in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas, to the late Virgil Lee Floyd, Sr., and Johnnie Agnes (Ross) Floyd. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. Opal enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and loved to travel, including taking cruises and vacations with her daughter, Helen. In addition to her parents, Opal was preceded in death by her first husband, Howard Tackett, and her second husband, David H. Pence; her son, Dennis Tackett; and her brothers, Virgil "Junior" Lee Floyd, Jr., and Harold "Bulldog" Floyd. She is survived by her daughter, Helen Tackett of St. Peters, Missouri; her sisters, Reba Funderburk of St. Peters, Missouri, Patsy Marshall of East Prairie, Missouri, and Barbara Stephens (Gary) of St. Peters, Missouri; several nieces, nephews, and a host of other family members and friends. Visitation will be on Friday, August 1, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Cox Funeral Home in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas, with funeral services to follow immediately at noon Bro. Parker Hughes and Victor Marshall will officiate. Interment will follow in the Lawrence Memorial Park Cemetery in Walnut Ridge under the direction of Cox Funeral Home in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas. Honored to serve as pallbearers are Travis Floyd, Randall Stephens, Victor Marshall, John Shockley, and Gary Stephens. Honorary pallbearers are Danny Floyd and Darrell Floyd.
