Patricia Clayton Obituary

Patricia "Pat" Clayton, a beacon of joy and love, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2025, in Paragould, Arkansas, at the age of 74. Born on September 16, 1950, in Rector, Arkansas, Pat's infectious laughter and warm presence brought light into the lives of all who knew her. Pat was a cherished daughter of the late James Elmer and Mary Maglene Banks. She was also the beloved wife of the late E.J. Clayton, and together they shared a life full of love and laughter. Pat was the heart of her family, a guiding force who will be deeply missed by her sons, Kenneth (LeeAnn) and Patrick Clayton, both of Rector, who will carry on her legacy of love and compassion. Her brothers, Jimmy, Manuel, and Carroll Banks, and her sisters, Diane Burdin, Reba Beck, Martha Stevens, Evelyn Clark, and Georgia Rios, will fondly remember Pat's mischievous spirit and her ability to turn any gathering into an occasion filled with laughter and joy. She was preceded in death by her brothers, James "Cowboy" Banks, Dennis "Sonny" Banks, Michael "Doc" Banks, Larry W. Banks, and James H. Banks, all of whom she held dear in her heart. Pat's legacy will live on through her adoring grandchildren, Ethan Clayton, Addison Clayton, and Matthew Hecht, Jaden Redmon who will always cherish the memories of their grandmother's love and the valuable life lessons she imparted. Pat's special aunts, Dora and Bonnie, her brother-in-law, Donald Clayton; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and other special relatives and friends, will forever remember her for the joy and passion she brought into their lives. A proud graduate of Rector High School, Pat dedicated her professional life to caring for others as a home health care aide. Her compassion and warmth made a significant impact on the lives of those she cared for, and her dedication to her work was a testament to her loving nature. Pat's interests and hobbies were a reflection of her vibrant personality. She was an avid softball player and an enthusiastic bingo participant, always ready for a friendly competition. Yard sales and auctions were among her favorite pastimes, where she would find treasures and trinkets that brought her joy. Pat was a devoted fan of the Cardinals and Razorbacks, cheering them on with the same passion she brought to every aspect of her life. Known for her excellent culinary skills, Pat was a good cook whose dishes were the highlight of family gatherings. Her ability to pull off a good practical joke was legendary, and her laughter was the sweetest melody to those who had the pleasure of witnessing her playful antics. Pat was loving, funny, and passionate-a woman whose life was a tapestry of the love she gave and the joy she created. Her spirit, a blend of kindness and humor, made her an unforgettable presence in the lives of all who knew her. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Thursday May 22, 2025 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Irby Funeral Home in Rector.
