Sue Romine Obituary
Sue Romine, a beacon of love and kindness, lost her long and courageous battle with cancer. She passed from this life on the dawn of March 28, 2025, at her home with her loving family by her side, closing a chapter of a life well-lived and profoundly impactful. Born on January 1, 1943, in the Finch Community, Sue grew up on a small farm nurtured by her loving parents, the late Hill and Adella (Taylor) Smith, along with her siblings, whose bonds remained a sustaining force throughout her life.
Sue's heart found its counterpart in Bill Romine, her devoted husband of nearly 63 years, with whom she built a wonderful life in Rector, Arkansas. Together, they cultivated a legacy of love and dedication that is carried on by their children: Vicki Romine of Rector, Steven Romine of Jonesboro, and David and Kim Romine of Paragould. Sue's joy was multiplied by the blessings of her grandchildren, Adam Romine of Rector and Andrew Romine of Paragould, as well as her bonus children, Steve (Amy) Ward and Shelby and Macy, who added immense happiness to her life.
Sue was a cherished sister to Earline Boling and Richard of Paragould, George and Eva Smith of Paragould. And Doris Smith of Finch, and she now joins her late siblings: Willard Smith, Herbert Smith, Joe Smith, Frankie Greenway, Alberta Davis, Violet Higgins, Albertine Gunn, Thomazean Wince, Shirley Crabtree, Wava Irene Levins, and Anna Mae Boozer, in eternal rest. Her love extended beyond her immediate family to the many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends who were touched by her kindness and generosity.
Sue rededicated her life to the Lord on November 12, 2008. She was a devout Christian serving at the 5th and Pine Church of Christ. Sue's faith was a cornerstone of her existence, guiding her actions and her unwavering commitment to her Lord, family, and community. Her work within the church and her broader community reflected her deep conviction to live a life of service and to instill the same values in her family.
Sue's interests were a mirror of her heart, with family taking the paramount place in her life. She was the embodiment of a Christian servant, always placing others before herself. Her dedication and sacrifices ensured that her children and grandchildren had the education, skills, and attitude necessary to open doors of opportunity to succeed in life. Sue was so proud of her family, she was genuinely concerned about their well-being and happiness, she was a constant encourager, supporter, example, and friend, and she pursued this with determination and grace. Sue found great joy during times when her family and friends were gathered together to share a meal, play games, or just visit over a cup of coffee.
As the sun sets on Sue Romine's earthly journey, we celebrate a life that was a testament to the power of love, the strength of faith, and the beauty of a generous heart. Her legacy does not end here, for it lives on in the hearts of those she loved and in the countless lives she enriched with her presence. Sue Romine's memory will be treasured forever, a guiding light for generations to come.
Visitation will begin on Tuesday, April 1, 2025 from 11:30 until 2:00 at the 5th and Pine Church of Christ with the funeral service following. Ken Roden and Aaron Bell will be officiating. Interment will take place at Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector.
