JONESBORO - Anne Marie Morgan, 84, formerly of Harrisburg, entered eternal rest on Aug. 15, 2025, while being surrounded by her loving family.
Born on Sept. 14, 1940, in Valparaiso, Ind., Anne was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Doyle Dean Morgan who passed away Jan. 1, 2024. She was also preceded in death by her son, baby boy Morgan, and we are joyous that they will be reunited in Heaven as she often prayed for that occasion. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Skapick and Pearl (Woodard) Paulauski, along with her beloved stepfather Frank Paulauski. She was also preceded in death by her sister Carole Skapick, stepbrothers, Frank (Mary E.) Paulauski and Don (Mary A.) Paulauski and one great-grandson, Sawyer Morgan.
She is survived by two sons, Bryan (Kelli) Morgan of Jonesboro, Jerry (Caroline) Morgan of Jonesboro, and one daughter Carol Beth (Jimmie) Cantrell of Horn Lake, Miss. She is also survived by sixteen nephews and nieces, nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren that she loved spending time with and talking often.
Anne had various careers over the many years of raising her family. Her most memorable was the years she spent working with the Harrisburg School System where she was adored by many students that she treated like family. Many that she still stayed in touch with over the last several years.
Anne was strong in her Christian faith as it helped her get through many trying times in her life as she battled cancer five separate times. In 1964, at the early age of 24, she survived as a test patient for exploratory chemotherapy treatments at the Trophoblastic Disease Center of Northwestern University where much that research is used in today's modern treatments for cancer.
Over the past couple of years when she could not attend church on her own, she would spend most Sunday mornings watching previous episodes of Adrian Rodgers with her son Bryan Morgan.
The family would like to thank the many caregivers and especially Dr. Carroll Scroggin, Dr. Doug Maglothin, RN Libby McDaniel and Lauren Rhodes. Honored to serve as pallbearers are the following family members: Samuel Kracht II, Jeremy Kracht, Tyler Morgan, Justin Morgan, Luke Morgan, Bryce Deckelman.
Visitation will be today, 5:30 to 7:00 p.m., at Gregg-Weston Funeral Home, 510 S. Illinois St., Harrisburg. Funeral services will be Wednesday, Aug. 20, 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Gregg-Weston Funeral Home. A burial will follow at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery located in Birdeye, Ark., where she will be placed by her loving husband.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House, NEA Baptist Charitable Foundation or the Cancer Patient Assistance Fund, P.O. Box 1960, Jonesboro, Ark.,72403.
