LEACHVILLE - Betty Jean Cole, 89, of Leachville, the widow of Harlis "Windy" Cole, passed from this life Sunday, April 17, 2022, at the Lakeside Nursing Center in Lake City.
Born and raised in the Boynton/Happy Corner communities, she was the daughter of the late L.H. and Opal Inez Robinson Green and had been a lifelong area resident.
Betty was a 1950 graduate of Leachville High School and afterward attended beauty school. She worked several years for The Turnbow Beauty Shop, formerly in Leachville, until 1965 when she left her career to dedicate her time to raising her family.
Betty enjoyed reading, working in her yard, evening walks and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She and her family were of the Church of Christ faith.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Lonnie Cole and Jimmy Cole, three brothers, Billy Joe Green, Henry Green and Jerry Green, and a sister, Peggy Arrasmith.
She is survived by a daughter, Sherry Buckley and her husband Clarence of Black Oak; a brother, Mike Green of Leachville; and a sister, June Gathright of Pocahontas.
She also leaves 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Leachville with the Rev. Mark Wheeler officiating. Burial will follow in Leachville Cemetery.
Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive visitors from 12:30 p.m. Friday until service time.
