Cathy Smith Obituary
MANILA - Cathy Regina Smith, 76, of Manila, died Friday, August 22, 2025, at the Monette Manor Nursing Home. Born in Manila to the late Eugene and Betty Holt Shelton, she had been a Manila resident for most of her life and was a 1967 graduate of Manila High School. She had worked for Manila Public Schools and was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son James Matthew Smith.
Survivors include two sons; David Smith (Sam) of Lepanto, and Michael Eugene Smith (Cathy) of Manila; four grandchildren, Amber Sparkman (Blake), Kyler Smith, Kinsley Smith (Allyson), Bryan Steakley (Rebecca); four great-grandchildren, Blakelynn Sparkman, Briggs Sparkman, Connor Steakley and Blair Steakley. Cathy also leaves her brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Debbie Shelton of Manila; two nephews, Chad Shelton and Chase Shelton; one niece Maegan Hill, and several great nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be on Wednesday, Aug. 27, at 2 p.m., at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila with Paul Wayne Hicks and Dr. Matt Pryor officiating. Burial will follow in Manila Cemetery. The family will receive visitors Wednesday from 12 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
