Dawn Virlene Ward, 69, of Hoxie, died Monday, March 11, 2024, at the Arkansas Continued Care Hospital in Jonesboro.
Born Oct. 13, 1954, in California, to Virgil Clark and Mary Barbian, Dawn had an outgoing personality that kept others laughing. She valued education, and after graduating from Iowa Western Community College, had a fulfilling career as an LPN.
Dawn was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Christina Michaels; a granddaughter and a grandson.
Dawn is survived by her brother, Douglas Barbian; her son, Delmar Gilliam; her daughter, Elizabeth Scales; four grandsons, seven granddaughters and three great-grandsons.
In accordance with her wishes, Dawn's body was donated to science, reflecting her lifelong commitment to learning.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date to honor her memory and achievements.
