WALNUT RIDGE - Donald Ross Nicholas, 83, of Walnut Ridge, passed away June 15, 2024, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
Born on Aug. 28, 1940, in Alicia, he was the son of the late Alton "Jack" and Cledia Fowler Nicholas. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Lavan Whitmire in 1960.
Don was a great businessman and entrepreneur. He enjoyed working, but he was most proud of owning and operating Old Hickory BBQ in Hoxie.
Survivors include his wife, Lavan of the home; two children, Chanta (Danny) Sullivan of Hot Springs and Kerry (Altie) Nicholas of Jonesboro; three grandchildren, Chance, Tatum and Grayson; two great-grandchildren, Emmery and Choice; one brother, Darrell (Pat) Nicholas of Jonesboro; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Bryan Chapel in Hoxie. Interment of his cremains will take place at a later date. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday.
