HOXIE - James Willard Glidewell, 78, of Hoxie, died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2021, at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jonesboro.
He was born Oct. 12, 1943, in Jonesboro to James Royal Glidewell and Alphia Corsey Glidewell Farmer.
After serving his country for over 22 years in the Army, he retired as a master sergeant.
James was the patriarch of a large and loving family. He was a member of Hoxie Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Glidewell and Alphia Farmer; son, James Arthur Glidewell "Bud Bud"; and brother, Marion (Jerry) Glidewell.
He is survived by his wife, Ances Glidewell of Hoxie; son, Jeff Glidewell of Hoxie; daughter, Candace (Tom) Edwards of Jonesboro; grandchildren, Dylan Glidewell of Corning, Timothy (Claire) Edwards of Dallas, Morgan Glidewell of Walnut Ridge, Megan (Craig) Beakley and Brittan Edwards, both of Jonesboro; great-grandchild, Devin Edwards of Walnut Ridge; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews who were very special to him.
Visitation was Monday at Hoxie Methodist Church. A graveside funeral service followed in Strangers Home Cemetery at Alicia with full military honors, under the direction of House-Gregg Funeral Home of Walnut Ridge and Lynn.
