LAKE CITY - Patsy Jean Cobb, a cherished resident of Lake City, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2023, at the age of 84, surrounded by her loving family. Born Oct. 4, 1939, to the late Ralph V. Pack and Cleo B. Hatch, Patsy was a beloved member of the community and will be remembered for her unwavering dedication to education and her profound love for family.
Pat was a proud Catfish graduate of Lake City High School, a place where she fostered lifelong friendships and laid the foundation for her commitment to learning. Her journey in education continued at Arkansas State University, where she earned her master's degree in education.
Patsy dedicated her professional life to education, serving as the principal at Riverside, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of countless students. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Lake City.
In addition to her professional achievements, Patsy enjoyed nurturing her hobbies, which included tending to flowers, indulging in reading and being a loyal customer of QVC and Amazon. However, her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought immense happiness and warmth to her life.
Pat was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Roland Cobb, her son, Kenny Cobb, her daughter-in-law, Melinda Cobb, and stepfather, Jess Hatch.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Judy Dudley (David) and Kellie Brown (Jeff), both of Lake City, and son, Jerry Cobb (Felicia) of Jonesboro. Patsy leaves behind a legacy of love through her five grandchildren, Jera Cobb, Breigh Earnhart (Chris), Blake Cobb (Amalia), Holly Portz (Paul) and Kennedy Hill, as well as her four great-grandchildren, Layla Earnhart, Cohen Earnhart, McCall Fryar and Gauge Portz; and one sister, Barbara Lancaster of Harrisburg.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Emerson Memorial Chapel. The funeral service is scheduled for noon Saturday at the funeral home with Brother Bart Barber and Darin Owens officiating. Following the service, Patsy will be laid to rest at Lower Cain Island in Lake City.
Active pallbearers will include Chris Earnhart, Paul Portz, Richard Hawkings, Chris Hale, Chris Lane and Scott Thorn.
Honorary pallbearers will include the Lake City Catfish class of 1957, a testament to the enduring bonds formed in their shared journey through life.
The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis 38105.
