JONESBORO - Samuel Lowell Smallmon, 69, of Jonesboro, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2023, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. Sam was born April 22, 1954, in Jonesboro to Walter D. and Sarah Agnes Taylor Smallmon.
He worked on a farm for John French and also worked for the City of Jonesboro in the maintenance department. Sam proudly served in the U.S. National Guard. He loved motorcycles, hiking, Christmas movies, his dogs, shop work, Pepsi and salt, and most of all, his family. Sam received the key to the city from the mayor of Jonesboro.
Sam was preceded in death by his parents.
Those left behind to cherish the wonderful memories of Sam include his wife of 52 years, Kathleen Johnson Smallmon; three daughters, Renee (Scott) Lawrence, Chrissy (Brandon) Robinson and Sherry Brewer; eight grandchildren, Erica Webb, Rachel Lawrence, Meagan Morris, Samantha Brown, Arron Brewer, Blake Brewer, Christian Brewer and Kyler Brewer; four great-grandchildren, Kaydon Webb, Briella Webb, Finn Webb and Grayson Hamilton; a brother, Charles Smallmon; and two sisters, Marie Lamb and Myrtle Cline.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Pine Log Cemetery at Brookland with Bobby Wade officiating.
Pallbearers will be Steve Horton, Steve Grandstaff, Mac Thetford, Scott Hollingsworth, Christian Brewer and Joey Curtis.
Brandon Robinson, Blake Brewer, Arron Brewer and the city of Jonesboro maintenance team will serve as honorary pallbearers.
No visitation is scheduled.
A meal will follow at Old Enterprise General Baptist Church, 407 Craighead 348, Jonesboro.
Arrangements are under the direction of Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home of Jonesboro.
