Anthony Bellendir

1939 - 2022

Anthony Allen Bellendir, 82, of Sterling, CO passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2022 in Sterling. Visitation will be from 8 am to 9:15 am Thursday, June 2 at Tennant Funeral Home. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 9:30 am Thursday, June 2 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 am with Father Enrique Salazar officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery. Anthony "Allen" was born on October 31, 1939 in Denver, CO to Anthony John and Catherine Margaret (Zink) Bellendir. He attended workshops for the developmentally disabled throughout his school years in Denver. The family moved to Sterling after the passing of his mother, in 1990. Allen lived at home with his father and sister, Cathy, until his passing in 2005. At that time, Allen continued living with Cathy at home with the aid of health professionals and then in 2016 moved into Sprawka Group Home sharing a small apartment with Cathy. Allen attended the Duffield Center and Steiner Sils Community Center as day programs every weekday, enjoying many friends and staff. Allen is survived by his beloved sister, Catherine (Cathy) Bellendir, all his "family" at Sprawka Group Home, Duffield Center and all the Eastern Colorado Services staff, Aunt Anna Fowler, and numerous cousins. Allen was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Catherine; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins from both the Bellendir and Zink families.
