FUNERAL HOME

Edna Schott Obituary

Edna Irene Miller Schott, 89, of Sterling, affectionately known by her grandkids as Nana as well as "Good Cooker", went to be with our Lord and Savior on March 16, 2023. Visitation will be held Friday, March 24, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Tennant Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Saturday, March 25, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Tennant Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery. Edna was the youngest (and only daughter) of 4 children born to Carl Miller and Mollie Stieben Miller of Atwood, Colorado. She was born two months premature, weighing in at 3.5 pounds on January 5, 1934. Her grandmother would lay her in a shoe box on the open, warm oven door as a makeshift incubator, surviving only the first of many medical miracles she would encounter during her lifetime. Edna attended Atwood School and then went on to Springdale School through the 8th grade. She then attended Sterling High School where she was chosen one of two delegates to attend Columbine Girls' State sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary. She worked as a telephone operator and trainer for 4 years following graduation. She taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School at Zion Congregational church before she and husband Ray started dating, and off-and-on while raising their kids. Ray recalls seeing Carl Miller carrying Edna into church as a little girl and thought she was adorable then. Later on, he saw her legs beneath the curtains separating Sunday school classes while she was teaching and was sure she would be his future wife, which she became on St. Valentine's Day in 1954. She was a devoted Christian, wife, mother, and grandmother who lived to shower her family with love and gifts; She was an excellent homemaker, cook and baker-taking after her mother-and passing her love of cooking onto her kids and grandkids. She always looked forward to hosting annual combined family holiday feasts. Edna loved to shop for sales and play Rummikub with her sister-in-law and her cousin (as well as Ray) for many years. She was a strong conservative and gave to many Christian, veteran and conservative organizations. In her later years she spent much time reading conservative political news. Edna is survived by her husband of 69 years Raymond Schott; daughter Raenell Coughlin (Kelly) of Greeley; grandson Kory Chrisman of Fort Collins; granddaughter Kylie Bergmann (Erik), and great-grandsons Callan and baby on the way-all of Fort Collins. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Jack, Carl and Edwin as well as her son Brian. Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made in Edna's name to St. Labre Indian School, Feed The Children, Salesian Missions, International Fellowship of Christians and Jews or American Bible Society c/o Tennant Funeral Home PO Box 1547, Sterling, CO 80751.

Oh, Rae. I´m so sad to read this, but I know she´s happy with her Lord and Savior. She will be missed by all, esp your dad. So hoping they would make it to 70 years together. You, and your family, are in our hearts, and definitely our prayers. Love you!
