Gerald Schott Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McDermott Funeral Home - Kennedy Township - Coraopolis on Mar. 6, 2026.
Gerald "Gerry" Schott, age 82, of Kennedy Township, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 6, 2026, after a brief battle with leukemia.
He was the beloved husband of 56 years to Joan (Hoerner) Schott. Loving father of Eric (Jeannie) Schott, Suellen (Ben) Engelhard, and Katie (Brad) Shaffer. Proud and devoted grandfather to Brendan, Kevin, Mark, Luke, Alina, and bonus grandson Eli, who brought him immense pride and joy.
Gerry was a graduate of Montour High School and earned his degree in Accounting from Robert Morris College. He later attended the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He proudly served his country for six years in the United States Army Reserves in the Intelligence Division.
Gerry spent his entire professional career in banking. He began as a teller at the Stowe Township branch of Mellon Bank and quickly advanced to Assistant Manager and Manager of several branches. He later helped launch Mellon's innovative "Phone Bank," opening the department with just a handful of employees and growing it into a major customer service operation. At the time of his retirement, he was a Vice President at Citizens Bank, where he oversaw more than 200 customer service representatives.
A longtime member of St. Malachy Parish, Gerry donated his time and energy to the church community. He served on the parish finance committee and was an active member of the Parent Teacher Council for St. Malachy School, including serving as President.
Gerry will be remembered for his kind-hearted nature, generosity, and his willingness to do anything for anyone he could help. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
The Schott family extends their heartfelt gratitude to AHN Hospice for the compassionate care and support they provided as well as all of those who have reached out to offer both help and sympathy over the past few weeks.
Relatives and friends received Monday, March 9, 2026, from 2PM-7PM at McDERMOTT FUNERAL HOME, 334 Forest Grove Road, Coraopolis (Kennedy Township), PA 15108. Funeral prayer Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at 10:15 AM at the funeral home followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM in Archangel Gabriel Parish, St Malachy Church, 343 Forest Grove Road, Kennedy Township. Interment in Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, Moon Township.
