James Beam Jr., 86, of Sterling passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2016 in Sterling. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm Sunday, March 6 at Tennant Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Monday, March 7 at Tennant Funeral Home with Deacon Ron Michieli officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. James was born on May 29, 1929 in Iliff, CO to James Edward Beam Sr. and Verna Trout. He served in the Korean War and then came back home and married Mary Hernandez on June 25, 1952. They were married until her passing on August 6, 1988. He later married Pauline Hradecky on November 14, 1990 in Iliff until her passing on June 28, 2006. He worked at Peetz Co-Op for thirty years and retired there as a fuel delivery man. James enjoyed farming, tending to the family farm, and playing cards. He always looked forward to dining out on Sunday afternoons and spending time with his family and telling stories. He is survived by his son Richard (Jeanette) Beam of Sterling; grandsons Brandon and Kyle Beam of Denver; granddaughter Stephanie Beam of Austin, TX; brothers Bob (Karen) Beam of Evans and Marvin (Bernice) Beam of Greeley; sisters-in-law Alice (Vince) Folladori of Sterling and Hild (Darrell) Frank of Kimball, NE; brother-in-law Joe Hernandez of Kimball; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents James and Verna Beam; sister Izola Nagel, brother Charles Beam, sister Annie Koehler, sister Ida Klemt, sister Bessy Japp, brother Glenn Beam; wife Mary Beam; wife Pauline Beam.
