Hunter Lee Carver, 71, Hunter Lee Carver, 71, of Bement, Illinois, passed away peacefully at home on July 28, 2025, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. True to his strong will and clarity of heart, Hunter chose to decline treatment, facing the end with remarkable grace and readiness saying he was at peace and eager to reunite with his brother, Dan Carver, and his parents, Virginia and Alfred Carver.
Born on November 3, 1953, in Kentucky, Hunter lived a life full of bold personality and colorful stories. He spent many years as an over-the-road truck driver, a job that matched his restless spirit and his natural gift for connecting with people. He never met a stranger, only future friends, and he was always quick with a joke or a story that could light up a room.
He loved the Chicago Cubs, old country music, and working on cars. He never passed up a good meal, especially soul and southern food, Asian cuisine, and a cold glass of sweet tea. Hunter's humor, honesty, and love left a lasting impact on everyone lucky enough to know him.
He recently shared a song by Toby Keith with his children that reflected his spirit, "Don't Let the Old Man In", a reminder of the strength he carried and the way he lived life on his own terms.
Hunter is survived by his children: Chris Carver, with whom he lived; Kimberly Carver; Lisa Taylor; Sherry Fuqua; and Heather Eston. He also leaves behind his beloved former step-children: Bernie, Rachael, and Jacque Ganley; along with many extended family members and friends who will miss his laughter, his stories, and his stubborn, beautiful heart.
Deceased's Arrangements A celebration of life will be held at Bement Forest Preserve Park on August 31st at noon, before his ashes are spread at his home. In honor of Hunter, put on a Merle Haggard record, pour a glass of sweet tea, and tell a good story.
