Janet K. Sebens

Janet K. Sebens, 82, of Monticello, passed away at 6:54 a.m., Monday, July 7, 2025, at Anthem Memory Care, Savoy.

Janet was born on August 17, 1942, in Decatur, IL. She was the daughter of Dale and Lenore (Tussing) Boyd. She married James 'Jim' Sebens on September 30, 1960, in Argenta, IL. He passed away on October 5, 2019.

Janet is survived by her son J. Brian Sebens of Mansfield; daughter, Julie M. Boone of Linton, IN; grandchildren, Darren (Jennifer) Sebens of White Heath, Brianna Boone of Linton, IN, Eric (Leslie) Janssen of Hendersonville, TN, Kelli Ward of Bloomington, IL; great grandchildren, Dylan and Wyatt Sebens, Mackenna Ward, Aidan Janssen, Kingston Boone, Hudson Dalton; brothers, Dan Boyd and Jim Boyd both of Galveston, IN; and sister, Linda Boyd of Mahomet. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and daughter-in-law Debbie.

Janet was a housewife, worked in insurance, and was a schoolteacher at Monticello Christian Academy. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church of Monticello and the Oreana Baptist Church. Janet loved playing numerous musical instruments. She played the organ and piano at both churches along with directing the choir. Janet also enjoyed sewing.

Visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 p.m., Friday, July 11, 2025 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home, Monticello. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Interment will be held at Friends Creek Cemetery, Argenta.
