Benjamin Alan Hayes, 43, of Wentzville, MO, formerly of Monticello, IL, and Friendswood, TX passed away on July 25, 2025 in Kirksville, MO.
He is survived by his wife, Kristina Marie, son Eli and daughter Evie. His eldest son Max passed away on July 26. He is also survived by his parents Tim and Linda Hayes of Monticello, brother Russ (Joy) Hayes and family of Chatham, sister Joanna (Chris) Lewis and family of Monticello, and brother Joe (Shaylee) Hayes and family of Monticello.
Ben was born on February 9, 1982 to Tim and Linda Hayes in Monticello, IL. He graduated from Monticello High School and the University of Illinois. He worked for MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX and later as a manager at Top Golf in Chesterfield, MO. He recently completed certifications to teach Math and Biology and had accepted a long-term sub position at Timberland High School to teach algebra.
He married Kristina Marie Van Antwerp on June 27, 2008 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Mahomet. Ben, an Eagle Scout, was active in Scouting with Max and Eli and completed a 7-day backcountry trek at Philmont Scout Ranch in June 2025 with Max and Kristi.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be held from 2:00-5:00 p.m., Saturday, September 13, 2025 at the Monarch Event Center 212 S. Independence St. Monticello, IL.
