Mark Edward Wartenberg-Reich of Tallahassee, Florida, passed away on April 21, 2025 at the age of 60.
Mark was born in
Chicago, IL, and resided with his family in
Des Plaines, IL, until the age of 4 moving with his family to
Hereford, TX. His youthful years were also spent in
Muncie, IN,
Omaha, NE,
Sioux City, IA, returning to
Omaha, NE, where he graduated from South High School. After high school, he worked in the electrostatic painting industry for 4 years and moved on to pylon installation, fabrication, moving to maintenance work before relocating to Florida. While employed by General Dynamics he suffered a stroke and was still recovering at the time of his death.
Mark loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman sometimes fishing from morning until night. He enjoyed cooking, and grilling his catch of the day, but smoking meats was his specialty. His gardening consisted of various types of produce, and especially hot pepper varieties that he canned with his own recipes. He maintained his yard with beautiful flowering plants and a variety of fruit plants. Love of nature led him to maintain trail cameras to capture the night time visits of wild animals, especially bear, fox, coyote, deer and bobcat.
Mark is survived by his daughters, Chrisstine Reich of Watertown, WI; Jennifer Reich of McHenry, IL; Brothers, Scott Wartenberg-Reich of Whitewater, WI; Todd Wartenberg-Reich of Waukegan, IL; Mother, Burdel Burval-Horner; Tina Pelletier, loving companion; Grandchildren, Joseph Gehl, Vincent Gehl, Ellie Lobaito; Nephews, Jacob (Jessie Spooner, and Malcolm), Justin Reich; Great-Nephew, Aurelius Reich.
He was preceded in death by Vicki Lynn (Young) Reich, mother of their two daughters; Brothers, Gregory Reich; Neal Wartenberg; Bobby Wartenberg; Father, Robert Wartenberg; Adoptive Father, Richard Reich; Grandparents, Harvey and Mildred (Striegel) Wartenberg; Joseph and Evelyn (Hasse) Burval; William and Mary Ellen Reich.
A Celebration of Life was held on July 26, 2025 at Horseshoe Lake in
Minong, WI, attended by his family.
