Mary Solarz Obituary

Mary Solarz (nee, Wesolowski), age 92, a resident of Des Plaines, Illinois, since 1956, passed away January 20, 2025.
Mary was born and raised in the Avondale neighborhood of Chicago's north side, where she attended St. Wenceslaus grade school, and Schurz High School (class of 1950).
Mary was married to the love of her life, Gilbert Solarz, for nearly 70 years. In addition to raising her two children, Mary worked for over 12 years at Goldblatt's department store in Mt. Prospect and for more than 20 years for GTE Directories. She was a member of St. Emily's Parish for 61 years.
Mary is survived by her son, Steve (Janet) Solarz, and daughter Laura (Scott) Schalla and three grandsons Adam Solarz, Steven Schalla and David Schalla. She was preceded in death by her husband Gilbert, her parents John and Verna Wesolowski, and her brother Norman Wesolowski.
A memorial visitation was held at St. Emily Church on Friday, January 24, 2025. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary's name can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Funeral care provided by G.L. Hills Funeral Home.
