Agnese Lubis Obituary

Agnese Lubis
Agnese Lubis, nee Kalacis, was born February 13, 1936, in Rauna, Latvia. The family left Latvia in 1944, fleeing the Soviet invasion, and at the end of World War II, and ended up in Esslingen, Germany. When the family obtained work permits for the United States, they left Germany and resettled in Connecticut where Agnese's father and brother started work in a local Latvian construction company. Agnese finished high school in Manchester, CT and continued her studies at the University of Connecticut. Both she and her brother were members of the Latvian choir "Rota" where Agnese met her future husband Rudolfs Lubis.
Agnese was deeply affected by the covid epidemic, especially when Rudis became ill and she could not visit him. Prior to his death, Agnese worked as a bookkeeper and maintained her garden with love. She was devoted to her faith and was a parishioner of the Latvian Evangelical Lutheran Church of Manchester.
Agnese is survived by her sister-in-law Gaida Lubis and best friend of 80 years, Zinta Mekss-Kulite.
A graveside service will be held on August 9, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the East Cemetery in Manchester, CT.
