Arthur Gebo Obituary

Arthur "Art" M. Gebo, 93, of Enfield, entered into peacefully into eternal life on Sunday, December 17, 2006, at Parkway Pavilion, Enfield.

He was born on Feb. 26, 1913, in Springfield, Mass., a son of Moses and Mary (Zimmerman) Gebo, and was a lifelong resident of Enfield. Art was the beloved husband of 60 years to the late Wanda (Wilga) Gebo, who passed in 2001. Mr. Gebo retired from the Stanadyne Co. after 19 years of service and had been employed before that with Bigelow Sanford Carpet Co., Thompsonville, for 30 years. In his leisure time, he enjoyed fishing with his son, Dennis, baseball and duck-pin bowling. He was an honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus Council 50, Enfield, former member of the Greys Athletic Club, where he played baseball, and a lifetime parishioner of St. Patrick Church.

Arthur is survived by his loving family, a son, Dennis Gebo and his wife, Lonnie, and a daughter, Patricia Fagan, and her husband, Walter, all of Enfield; a granddaughter, Arlene M. Gebo; a great-grandchild, Jaosha Michelle Gebo; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings Lena, Grace, and recently, Lillian, on Nov. 14, 2006, and Leo and Paul.

Mr. Gebo's family would like to especially thank the staff at Parkway Pavilion Healthcare in the Reflections Unit, who were like family, and where Art received the best of care, along with the whole staff at Parkway for the attention and loving care given our Dad while there. Thank you everyone.

Funeral services in celebration of Art's life will be held on Thursday Dec. 21, 2006 at 9 a.m. from Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, 43 Shaker Rd., Enfield, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick Church. Interment will take place in St. Patrick King St. Cemetery, Enfield.

Art's family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, Dec. 20, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels.

Memorial donations in his memory may be made to St. Patrick Church, 64 Pearl St., Enfield, CT 06082.
