Benjamin Norman Obituary

Petty Officer MMN3 Benjamin Edward Norman, 20, of Coventry, was involved in a fatal weather-related automobile accident, Monday early evening, Dec. 31, 2018.

Ben was born Oct. 4, 1998, in Manchester to Samuel and Teresa (Burnett) Norman. He moved to Coventry with his family in 2011 where he graduated from Coventry High School in 2016. Ben was an Eagle Scout from Boy Scout Troop 25 of Manchester. While a Scout, he represented Troop 25 in Poland as part of their ongoing exchange with a troop in Krakow where he met the love of his life and future fiancée. After one year of college, Ben enlisted in the Navy, where he was selected into an elite nuclear propulsion training program. Benjamin had a real joy of life and surrounded himself with a group friends and family whom he truly loved.

Ben is survived by his parents, Sam and Teri Norman; by his brother, Daniel; and his sister, Rebecca; grandparents, Peg and Jim Burnett, Bonnie and Michael Norman; his fiancée, Asia Jurkiewicz; nine first cousins; and many, many loving uncles, aunts, and friends. He will be sorely missed. May his memory always be a blessing. Shalom.

The funeral service will be held Friday, Jan. 4, at 10 a.m. at Beth Sholom B'nai Israel, 400 East Middle Tpke., Manchester. Burial will follow at Hillstown Road Veterans Cemetery.

So very sorry for this tragic loss

January 5, 2019

Ben was virtuous, one of the kindest, self driven and accomplished young gentlemen we have had the opportunity to meet. He attended parties and celebrations at our house with my daughter and their friends. I always said to my children, show me your friends and I'll tell you your future. Ben was one of those acquaintances that brought comfort and joy, always welcomed. We send our sincere condolences to the Norman family and may those in turmoil at this time find comfort and solace. Be confident that our heavenly father, God, has wrapped his loving arms around Ben. We can not possibly heal the sadness this has cast upon everyone, but please know you are in our prayers and thoughts, and his wonderful spirit will always be remembered. Rest in peace sweet Angel. Sincerely, Jeri and Jon Reid (Casey)

Dear Terri and Sam,
I cannot begin to fathom your loss. I remember Ben as a well behaved, sweet fourth grader with a mischievous smile. He had many friends at Nathan Hale and your lesson on Hanukkah was a hit. He was super excited that you were coming in to do your annual lesson. Much love to you and your family.

While the starts gleam brighter with his passing, the world is a darker place without him in it. Ben was more than a friend, more than a brother, more than a son. He was the sun and the moon and the light that reached out it's hands to hold us. My heart is broken, and it will never be whole again. I cannot express more how much I will miss him, and how much he will be missed. Ben Norman, I love you with everything I Have left.

Sam and Terry, i can't imagine what you are going thru. The worst thing in the world is to lose a child. 7 years ago i thought by the time i got to Hartford i would lose Scott But i didn't. I wish there was something i could do for you as you did for Scott at that sad time you made things easier for me just being there and talking to Vicki and I.
But all i can do is say how sorry i am and send you all our love and prayers . Please be sure we are here for you if needed. Love

My heart is so sad and heavy for Ben's family and friends. Ben is an inspiration to his friends, as I am sure he is to the scouting troop he belonged to and his buddies in the Navy. My son and the group of friends Ben was involved with since he moved to Coventry love him so. I heard so many stories and memories and saw so many tears over the last several days. May his parents, brother, sister, extended family and friends find some comfort in knowing Ben will always be a part of them.
