Bernice Armstrong Obituary

Bernice L. "Sis" Armstrong, 78, of Stafford Springs, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2018, at Woodlake at Tolland.

She was born in Stafford Springs, daughter of the late Bernhard and Josephine (Braun) Armstrong. Sis worked as a teacher for the North Stonington School District, and spent many years as the girls' softball coach at North Stonington High School. She was a member of St. Edward Church and the St. Clare Fraternity Secular Franciscans, and was active in the Stafford Area Community Thrift Shop and the First United Methodist Church food pantry.

Sis is survived by her brother, Glenn Armstrong and his husband, Stephen; sister-in-law, Fran Armstrong; former sister-in-law, Alice Armstrong; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her two brothers, Herbie and Bernhard "Brob" Armstrong.

A calling hour will be held Saturday, Sept. 8, from 11 a.m. to noon followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at noon at St. Edward Church, 55 High St., Stafford Springs. Burial will follow at West Stafford Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Edward Church, 6 Benton St., Stafford Springs, CT 06076.
