Cynthia Japikse
Cynthia Japikse, 68, of Fort Johnson, New York, formerly of Enfield, beloved daughter of Janette (Patterson) Burkhardt, and her father, the late Albert A. Burkhardt Jr., passed away at home on August 2, 2025, surrounded by friends.
Cindy was born in Augusta, Georgia on July 20, 1957. She attended Enfield High School. After high school, she lived in many states but settled in Fort Johnson, New York. She loved having dinner parties, making Charcuterie Boards, book clubs, and decorating her house. She will be deeply missed by her wide circle of friends. Her friendships were a source of great joy and support throughout her life. She will be remembered for her warm and welcoming nature, and her can-do attitude. Cindy found great comfort, companionship and a special bond with her comfort dog, Arthur.
She is survived by her sons, Matthew Japikse and Daniel Japikse, her granddaughter, Soleil, her brother, James D. Burkhart and his wife Kathleen A. Burkhart, step-aunt to Richard Giverson and his wife Kimberlee, step-aunt to Adam Giverson, and many cousins and dear friends. Cindy was predeceased by her brother, Patrick R. Burkhart.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Leete-Stevens Family Funeral Home, 61 South Rd., Enfield on Friday, August 15, 2025, from 1-3 p.m. with a brief memorial at 2:30, all are welcome.
