Darryl A. Anderson, 79, of Somers, died on Sunday, October 1, 2023, at Manchester Memorial Hospital. He was born in Stafford on June 25, 1944, to Adolph and Ruth (Smith) Anderson.
After graduating Somers High School, Darryl proudly served in the US Army during the Vietnam War as a medic. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and a Good Conduct Medal. He enjoyed golfing, camping and bowling but especially loved his family who reside close by on the Anderson Compound. Darryl retired from the former LR Hawthorne in Enfield after 30 years of truck driving which he absolutely loved.
Darryl is survived by his daughters, Carol Mairano and her husband Richard of Trumbull, Lori Franklin and her fiancé Michael Clougherty of Somers; his brother Kenneth Anderson and his wife Betty of Somers; his sisters, Arlene Haughn and her husband Robert of Somers, Beverly DeLorge and her husband Kenneth of Somers; his grandchildren, Ryan and Brittany Mairano of Trumbull; his sister-in-law Cynthia Anderson of Somers and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his wife Judith who died in 2010, he was predeceased by his brother Ralph Anderson.
Relatives and friends may join the family on Thursday, October 5, 2023, from 4-7 p.m. at Somers Funeral Home, 354 Main St., Somers. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 6, 2023, at The Somers Congregational Church, 599 Main St, Somers. (Please meet directly at Church).
