Doris "Dottie" A. (Roy) Rogers
June 27, 2025
It is with deep sadness we report that Doris passed from this mortal life on (date) to reunite with her daughter Jennifer. Doris, or Dottie, as she liked to be called, was born in Lowell, MA, on July 27th, 1945. She is predeceased by her parents, Paul Roy, Sr., and Alice Roy (Massicotte). Dottie graduated from St. Louis Academy in 1963, where she proudly bragged that half her subjects were taught in English and half were taught in French. In her junior and senior years, she worked after school at Demoulas Supermarket on Bridge Street, where she met her future husband, Brendon. They were married in May of 1966, and moved to Connecticut, where they celebrated their 59th anniversary. Settling in Enfield, CT, they raised two children, losing their daughter Jennifer in Dec. 1998 to complications from Multiple Sclerosis. Dottie was quick to strike up a conversation with anyone. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, becoming quite the wordsmith, and did beautiful needlepointand quilting projects. The hobby that made her the happiest was making clothes for Jackie's dolls. When the mood struck her, she loved to work in coloring books, especially any that were Harry Potter themed. She read all seven volumes of Harry Potter four times over and always found a new twist.
Sadly, Dottie leaves behind her husband, Brendon; her son, Richard (Rick), who is her pride and joy, along with her granddaughter, Jackie, and Rick's wife, Mariya, who is not an in-law but a second daughter; brother Paul Roy, Jr., and wife Suzanne; niece Rebecca Benoit and nephew-in-law Sean Benoit; two sisters, Beatrice Roy and Dolores Senior; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. She will also be missed by her three great friends: Rachel Godfroy (a lifetime friend from their high school days), Rose Devlon (with whom she developed a lasting friendship from her time working at Total communications); and Jill Elarab (who always knew exactly the right hairstyle for Dottie). In addition, Dottie leaves behind a great friend and neighbor, Frank Scalia; Michael Boucher and wife Sara; Kevin Boucher and wife Kerry; Brian Boucher and wife Karen; and Roger Jean (husband of the late Aline (Boucher) Jean). In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to the
American Cancer Society in memory of Dottie.
Relatives and friends may gather with Dottie's family during calling hours on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by a Prayer Service at 11:00 a.m. at Browne Memorial Chapels, 43 Shaker Rd., Enfield, CT. Burial will take place in St. Patrick's King Street Cemetery in Enfield following the Prayer Service.
