Dorothy Hagenow Obituary

Dorothy Hagenow
1920 - 2024
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dorothy Hagenow, who departed this life peacefully on May 26, 2024, at the age of 103. Dorothy was born on September 11, 1920, in East Hartford, CT to the late Leon and Mary Bailey. Dorothy lived life to the fullest. Most notably, she always put family first and loved unconditionally. All who knew her were touched by her smile, sense of humor, compassion, singing, and ability to bring smiles and laughter to both young and old.
Dorothy was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many. She leaves her daughter, Linda Bassett and husband, Gardiner of Coventry; daughter, Mary Lewie and husband, David of Glastonbury; son, Kenneth Hagenow and wife, Deborah of Bolton; and two daughters-in-law, Carolyn Armstrong, and Gwynne Hagenow.
She also leaves grandchildren, Jennifer Dafeldecker and husband, Kai; Steven Bassett and wife, Amy; Martha Bassett; Darien Lewie and wife, Shannon; Shelley Burnette and husband, Travis; Amie King and husband, Nick; and Brittany Hinxman and husband, Eric. Her great-grandchildren include Zachary, Sara, Benjamin, Abigail, Elizabeth, Rebecca, Megan, Joshua, Joseph, Madelaine, Bailey, Noah, James, Allison, Silas, Leah, Jamison, Rosalie, and Everett. Everett is expecting to be a big brother of a baby sister in October.
Dorothy is predeceased by her husband, Sidney Robert Hagenow; her siblings, Clifford, Mildred, and Ruth; her son, Richard Hagenow of California; and two grandchildren, Richard, and Elizabeth Hagenow.
A calling hour will be held at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 W. Center Street in Manchester on Thursday, May 30th, from 10-11 a.m. A funeral home service will be at 11 a.m., with a graveside burial immediately following at East Cemetery in Manchester.
In lieu of flowers and in alignment with Dorothy's great love for pets, the family requests that donations be made to Kenway's Cause (kenwayscause.com) or a pet rescue organization of your choice. The family would also like to thank the wonderful staff at Woodlake at Tolland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
