Edward Sumski Obituary

Edward W. Sumski
Edward W. Sumski, 101, of Vernon, CT, husband of 70 years to the late Terry (Matthews) Sumski, passed away Friday, August 30, 2024. Edward was born in Lawrence, MA, on February 8, 1923, to the late William and Michalina (Kozlowski) Sumski. He attended Lawrence High School and served in the Army Air Force as Sergeant and fought in the Pacific during World War II.
He was employed with Pratt & Whitney for over 30 years. His favorite hobby was building models. He spent numerous hours building ships and planes of various sizes, some of museum quality. He was especially fond of the Vernon Senior Center and all his friends there. And he was a die-hard Boston Red Sox fan. Up until his mid 90's, he was very active in bowling. Edward had a full life and was blessed most of his life with good health.
Edward is survived by his daughter, Janis Gets of Vernon, his grandson, Christopher Getz and his wife Paige and great-grandson Caden of Ellington; niece, Joanne Carbone and her family of Atkinson, NH, niece Linda Duquette and her husband Jim and their family of Derry, NH; and niece-in-law, Mary Lesiczka and her family of Haverhill, MA.
Edward was predeceased by his wife, Terry in 2018; his sister, Mary, and her husband Stanley Lesiczka and their son, Richard; and sister, Genevieve Sumski.
The family is planning a private gathering to celebrate Ed's life.
