Eileen DuBois Obituary

Eileen Kinney DuBois, 88, of Enfield, beloved wife of John DuBois.

Eileen was born Feb. 19, 1935, in Waterbury, the daughter of Sylvester and Marguerite Farrell. She was a graduate of Albertus Magnus College and completed postgraduate study at Fairfield University. Eileen began her teaching career in 1956 at Cheshire High School; she also taught in Holden, Massachusetts and Baltimore, Maryland. Eileen spent most of her career as a teacher of French and Latin at Suffield High School, retiring in 1999 after 24 years of dedicated service. In her retirement years, Eileen traveled extensively and was an active volunteer in many organizations, including the St. Vincent de Paul Society where she served as chapter president, 1st Way Life Center, and Literacy Volunteers. Eileen was a faithful member of Holy Family parish in Enfield since 1972, where she sang in the choir and served as a lector. She had served on the parish council and was an active member of the church's Women's Guild. She also sang in the Enfield Community Chorus and the Senior Center Goldtones.

Eileen is survived by her devoted husband John DuBois; her sons, J. Patrick Kinney III and his wife, Elizabeth, and Brian Kinney and his wife, Dr. Nancy Keating, her daughter Kathleen Landmann and her husband, Laird; stepsons John C. DuBois and his wife, Teresa, and Michael DuBois; grandchildren, Julia and Eric Landmann, Jake, Nicholas, Daniel, Thomas and Anna Kinney, and Adam and Kyle DuBois. She also leaves her sister Rosemary Roberts and her husband, George; one brother, David Farrell; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, J. Patrick Kinney, Jr.; three brothers, Francis, Philip and Charles Farrell; and a sister-in-law, Roberta Farrell. Eileen also remained close to her Kinney in-laws, including sisters-in-law Flavia "Sue" Sullivan, Maureen, Marianne and Mary Kinney, and her brothers-in-law Paul, Donald, and Robert Kinney; she was predeceased by brothers-in-law Francis, Peter, William and David Kinney, and Martin Sullivan, and by sisters-in-law Barbara, Ann, and Elizabeth Kinney.

Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family from 5 to 7 p.m., on Wednesday, April 12, at Leete-Stevens Funeral Home, 61 South Rd., Enfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon on Thursday, April 13, at Holy Family Catholic Church (St. Jeanne Jugan Parish), 23 Simon Rd., Enfield. Burial will follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Enfield.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society, in care of Holy Family Church in Enfield.
