Elizabeth Gray Obituary

Elizabeth (Beth) Gray
1935 - 2024
Elizabeth (Beth) Gray, 89, passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2024. She was most recently a resident of Clinton, but formerly resided for many years in Tolland and Manchester. Daughter of the late Robert Gilbert and Lydia (Jost) Brennan, Beth was born on October 7, 1935, in Mt. Vernon, New York.
Beth married her first husband, Burt Knapp in 1956 and together they had two children. After his passing, Beth went on to meet and marry Howard Gray in 1970 before his passing in 2009. In Beth's free time, she enjoyed knitting, quilting, crochet, needlepoint and doll making. She sold her handicrafts at gift shops in Maine and her church fair. She also enjoyed collecting Depression Glass and rag dolls through her frequent journeys to flea markets, tag sales, antique shops, and thrift stores. Beth had a love for the rocky coast of Maine and enjoyed many summers living in her camper in Maine. Her children and grandchildren enjoyed spending vacations with Beth exploring the state in her big blue VW van. Beth used her talents of creativity, organizational skills and a good eye for décor to beautify her homes, camper, and to run the "Attic Treasures" room at her church's annual holiday fair. Beth was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who will be dearly missed.
Beth is survived by her children, Susan Schaedler and her husband George, and Michael Knapp and his wife Joann; her grandchildren, Nathan Rawlings and Chelsea Langrieger, and Michael Jr., Sabrina and Keira Knapp; great-grandchildren, Aubrey and Whitney Langrieger; as well as loved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Besides Beth's parents and spouses, she was predeceased by her brother, Robert Brennan, Jr.
The Green Cremation has care of the arrangements. Relatives and friends are invited to a memorial service celebrating Beth's life at Shoreline Unitarian Universalist Society in Madison, CT, on December 8th at 2:00 p.m. For online condolences please visit www.thegreencremation.com

You will truly miss her! Elizabeth Gray was a beautiful soul who was deeply involved in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. My sister and I were blessed to have her as our mother. She is remembered fondly by her son Michael and Joann, and her grandchildren Mike Jr., Sabrina Colby Knapp, and Keira Colby Knapp.

I'm saddened to hear of the passing of your
Mom, Beth. She was a great lady an asset to our Senior Center in Tolland, a member of our Note-bale chorus. We will always remember her kindness and beautiful smile. Please accept my deepest sympathy.
