Esther Spanilo Obituary

Esther (Alaimo) Spanilo, 80, of Enfield, went home to God on Wednesday, June 7, 2006, at St. Joseph's Residence, with her family and the Little Sisters of the Poor at her side.

She was born in the Thomp-sonville section of Enfield, a daughter of the late Vincent and Lillian (Alongi) Alaimo; she had been a lifetime resident of the community. Esther was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church and attended the Thompsonville school system. Prior to her retirement she had been employed at the former G. Fox & Co.

A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, she is survived by four sons, Ernest Spanilo and his wife, Pauline, of Agawam, Raymond Spanilo and his wife, Elaine Presta, of Glastonbury, Vincent Spanilo and his wife, Debbie, of Enfield, and Joseph Spanilo and his wife, Barbara, of Burlington; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; her sister, Mary Buiniskas of Enfield; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four brothers and five sisters, Anthony Alaimo, Matthew Alaimo, Carmen Alaimo, Frances Vella, Nancy Lashetski, Lillian Porcello, Josephine Guillano, Charles Alaimo, and baby Nancy Alaimo.

Funeral services will be held on Monday at 9 a.m. from the Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church. Burial will be in the Thompsonville Cemetery.

Esther's family will receive relatives and friends at the Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.

Her family would like to thank the Little Sisters of the Poor and their staff for taking special care of their mother.
