Eugene Buckley Obituary

Eugene "Gene" E. Buckley, 88, longtime resident of Windsor Locks, passed away on March 25, 2011.

Gene was born in Pawcatuck, Conn., the son of the late Ruth and Richard Fricke. He served in the Army Air Corps as an aviator mechanic and was honorably discharged in April 1947. For a short period, he gave pilot lessons. Later on, Gene worked at Hamilton Standard and was acknowledged for more than 40 years of service in operations ranging from submarines and aircraft to the space program.

Gene is survived by Anne, his wife of 60 years; his daughter, Deborah Lambert, and husband, Michael, of Reidsville, N.C., daughter, Marianne F. Buckley-Curran, and husband, Stewart, of Hull, Mass.; son, Carleton, and wife, Heidi, of Framingham, Mass.; seven grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, Thomas, Fred, and Robert.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made in his name to the American Heart Association; PO Box 417005; Boston, MA 02241-7005.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2011, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring St., Windsor Locks.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2011, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Church, 42 Spring St., Windsor Locks (Please meet at the church). Burial with military honors will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.

Dear Deborah, Marianne, Carlton and families-I am so sorry to read about you Dad's passing. I still remember him well, as if it were yesterday. Hello Marianne - sorry for your loss - not sure if you remember me but I lived on 16 Whiton Street and we use to hang out back in the day -Luanne Moticka - I still live in Winsor Locks and walk by your house a few times a week with my dog Zoie and always think of you.
