Frances (Salamone) Reale
Frances (Salamone) Reale, 94, of Suffield CT, passed into eternal life on Monday, May 6, 2024, at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford, CT. She was born on January 24, 1930, in the Thompsonville neighborhood of Enfield, CT. Frances was predeceased by her loving husband of fifty-eight years, Alfonso Reale, her parents, Charles and Lillian (Todaro) Salamone, and her two older brothers, John Salamone and William Salamone. She is survived by her three sons, Rosario Reale, and his wife Gina Reale of Somers CT, Carlo Reale and his partner Michael S. Dunn of Suffield CT, and Enzo Reale and his wife Constance Marsala of Ridgefield CT. She also leaves behind five grandchildren: Peter Reale of New Orleans, LA, Benjamin Reale, Samantha Reale, and Lily Reale all of Boston, MA, and Sophie Reale of Ridgefield, CT, University of Virginia, class of 2024. Frances also leaves behind two sisters-in-law: Rosaria Borelli, and Clara Pace and her husband Antonio, all of Pratola, Italy, and a sister-in-law, Eleanor (Pambianchi) Salamone of Enfield, as well as many nieces and nephews. Additionally, she leaves behind two special goddaughters, Elizabeth (Trapanese) Patria and her husband Jerry of Southwick MA, and Maria (Salamone) Van Nostrand and her husband Robert, of Enfield.
Frances graduated Enfield High School in 1948 and went to work for the State of Connecticut Department of Transportation, retiring as a legal secretary in 1966. After raising her family, she devoted her time helping her husband, Alfonso, run "Mr. Alfonso's Hairstyling Studio". Frances enjoyed traveling, cruises and trips to Europe with her husband, as well as wintering in their Clearwater, FL home. She enjoyed playing piano, listening to opera, dancing, eating well, and staying fit, swimming, walking on her treadmill, and strolling on Suffield's lovely historic Main Street sidewalks. Frances also loved reading and working on jigsaw puzzles. Having been the female class athlete of her graduating class, she had great enthusiasm for sports. She was a huge fan of the UCONN girls basketball team and was a die-hard New York Yankees fan. She impressed many indelibly with her gentle, easy-going manner, fun sense of humor and sense of style. The Family wishes to thank staff of Unit 8-1 at Saint Francis Hospital for their compassionate care, particularly nurses, Minh, Leann and Desiree.
