Frederick Kaeser Obituary

Frederick J. Kaeser entered this life May 21, 1928. He left peacefully April 20, 2017, to join his beloved wife, "Midgie," who departed this life three years prior.

He leaves behind to remember him with love and smiles, six children. His daughters, Pamela Roebuck and husband, Bill, of Lakewood, Washington, and Mary-Beth Kaeser of Ashford; and his four sons, Frederick "Jake" Kaeser Jr. and wife, Laura Natusch, of New London, Edward and wife, Kelly, of Casco, Maine, James and wife, Donna, of Willington, and Richard of Willington. He also leaves behind his sister, Louise Seabeck of Wethersfield; sisters-in-law, Elsie Gevry of Massachusetts, and Muriel Colvin of Rocky Hill. Fred was also blessed with 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved great-granddaughter, Erin Jane Tornquist.

Fred was a Mason for over 50 years. He was raised in 1951 and was a past master of both Hospitality Lodge 128 in 1986 and Uriel Lodge 24 in 1996. He was a past prince of Jerusalem from 1989 through 1990. From 1949 to 1952 he served as sergeant first class in the Army of the United States. He was also a master mechanic and heavy-equipment operator. His family was his pride and joy. He enjoyed gardening during his retirement, especially growing flowers for Midgie. He made the best apple cider, carrying on the yearly tradition in his garage after the Danbury Fair shut-down. He was a past master of the Wapping Grange 30, and also served as a deacon for the Wapping Community Church. As a Shriner, he also provided transportation to the Children's Hospital in Boston. Fred had a big heart and was always ready to lend a helping hand where needed.

The family wishes to thank the Visiting Nurse and Health Services of Connecticut, Vernon, for its care and compassion over the last year, along with heartfelt thanks to Fred's live-in caregiver, Dennis Osei Agyekum, who treated Fred with the utmost respect and compassion during his final days.

Calling hours will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 26, at Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Road, South Windsor, with a Masonic service at 7 p.m.
