Gage Rondeau Obituary

Gage Thomas John Rondeau, 19, of Willington, passed away unexpectedly Friday, Dec. 30, 2016.

He was born in Stafford and raised by grandparents Joe and Ruthann Ferenc, of Willington. Gage was a graduate of E.O. Smith High School. Gage was the light and love of Joe and Ruthann's life, the center of their universe. He was so talented. An avid hockey player from the age of 5 and a formidable adversary on the soccer field for eight years, Gage excelled in every sport he took on. Basketball, baseball, and lacrosse - he played on the field with an unbridled enthusiasm. He was poetry in motion. His impish smile would light up a room, and his loss will leave all who knew him and loved him forever changed, especially his Pap and Gram.

Those left with broken hearts include his mother, Jessica Coax, of Norwich; father, Mark Rondeau, of East Windsor; grandparents Jerry and Susan Rondeau, of Enfield, and Virginia Rondeau, of Windsor Locks; brother Seth; great-grandmother, Mary Ferenc; godfathers, Rob Ferenc and Tom Rondeau; godmother, Terry Ferenc; aunts and uncles, Mary and David, Cindy and Rick, Tom and Judy, Ken, Kim, Tom, Paul, and Jen, and Teresa and Bob; as well as other extended family members; and many friends.

His funeral will be held Wednesday, Jan. 4, with a procession forming by 9 a.m. at Introvigne Funeral Home, 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Jude Church, 25 Old Farms Road, Willington. Burial will follow in Willington Hill Cemetery.

Calling hours are Tuesday, Jan. 3, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial donations will be used to help support veterans and may be made to the Elks Lodge 1359, 9 N Park St., Vernon, CT 06066.

Joe & Ruthann - On behalf of David, Jacob, Adele, Madeline, and I please accept our deepest and saddest condolences for the loss of a wonderful young man. A few days before Christmas we were watching some old family videos and we have one of Gage and Vinny swimming in the pool with the kids. We have since also talked about the times when Gage would come over to our house and David would kid him about rounding out the brim of his hat, or the time he and Adele were swinging on the swings and a bunch of bees starting buzzing around them! These last few days have given us an opportunity to reflect on the giant smile Gage had, how much he looked up to Jacob, and how often Gage and Adele would sit out on the 'big rock' in front of our house and just talk and laugh at the silly and stupid things they did together. All of it was part of growing up and we all feel very fortunate to have know Gage. We will miss the sound of his motorcycle and his belly laughs. I can't tell you how many times we have said "I hope Gage knows how lucky he is to have Joe & Ruthann." This child was truly blessed by the two of you, as you were equally blessed to have him in your lives. To be love unconditionally, and to receive it in return, is an awesome and beautiful gift. While we cannot even begin to walk in your shoes in the days ahead, please know we are beside you in spirit and we are right next door in you need anything at all. You are in our thoughts and prayers. May you find comfort in knowing Gage loved you in a way that was genuine and as big as his smile. XXOO
