George Donnelly Obituary

George H. Donnelly Jr., 52, lifelong Manchester resident, husband of Carol A. (Hornat) Donnelly, died Sunday, June 26, 2011, at Bridgeport Hospital.

George was born in Manchester on March 13, 1959, son of the late George H. Donnelly and Anita (Garcia) Donnelly. He graduated from Manchester High School, served in the U.S. Army, was a former employee of Whole Foods Corp. in Ellington, and was currently employed by ShopRite in Manchester.

With his wife, George is survived by two brothers and a sister, James G. Donnelly, and his wife, Donna, Michael P. Donnelly, and Susan L. Donnelly, and her husband, Jay Hedlund, all of Manchester; his nieces and nephews, Jack, Jenna, Kate, and Sam; Carol's children, Dan, Alvin, and Irene; and his longtime canine companion, Missy.

Memorial visiting hours will be held Friday, July 1, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St., Manchester. Burial will be private in the Donnelly family lot in the East Cemetery in Manchester.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
